Pennyrile Electric Names President And CEO

The Pennyrile Electric board of directors has selected a new president and chief executive officer. During the monthly meeting Tuesday morning, the cooperative’s board announced Alan Gates will fill the position. Gates most recently served in the role of vice president of operations and technical services and has served several positions throughout his tenure. Officials say Gates was hired in 1989 as an engineering aide and soon moved to the position of substation technician and later promoted to manager of technical services.

Board of Directors Chairman Jimmy Futrell says in a release they knew with the strength of their internal employees they could find their next CEO from within the cooperative. He notes Gates has been instrumental in several positive changes the cooperative has made over his years of employment. Futrell says they are confident in Gates ability to lead the cooperative in the years ahead.

Gates thanked the board of directors for giving him the opportunity and says he looks forward to serving their membership and continuing their mission to provide safe reliable electricity.

Gates resides in Hopkinsville with his wife, Ashley and has two children ages 21 and 17.
