HCC Lecture Hall Renamed After First College President

The lecture hall at Hopkinsville Community College has officially been renamed after a ceremony held Tuesday afternoon.

College President/CEO Dr. Alissa Young says the hall is being named after the college’s first president, Dr. Thomas L. Riley.

Dr. Young adds the Rotary Club has donated over $1 million to help Hopkinsville students further their education at Hopkinsville Community College.

Hopkinsville Rotary Fundraising Chair Rick Paxton says an anonymous donor who has helped the Rotary Scholars Program since 2012 decided to rename the lecture hall after Dr. Riley.

He adds the Rotary Scholars Program pays full tuition for students in Christian County who have at least a 2.5-grade point average.

Rotary Club President Kiley Killebrew says everyone must remember the hard work of people like Dr. Riley who have helped numerous students over the last 50 years.

According to Killebrew, the Rotary Club will continue its commitment to helping students go to college tuition free.

To finish the ceremony, Dr. Young, Killebrew, and the Riley family unveiled the signage for the lecture hall located in the Auditorium Building.
