After a process that has lasted over one year, criminal charges have been dismissed against Logan and Todd County Commonwealth’s Attorney Joyce Gail Guiling.

According to the Todd County Standard, the charges against her have been dismissed with prejudice, meaning the charges can not be brought against her again. Guiling was charged with tampering with physical evidence, two counts second-degree official misconduct, and two counts engaging in organized crime/criminal syndication.

In a statement released by Guiling Friday afternoon, she will be resigning the position on December 1.

Guiling thanks her office staff and Acting Commonwealth’s Attorney Justin Crocker for all of the hard work they put in over the past year since she has not been allowed to be in the office during this process.

As we have previously reported, Guiling did not seek re-election in the November General Election. Guiling adds she is excited to start a new chapter in her life.
