Criminal abuse and rape charges were among indictments returned by the Christian County Grand Jury Friday.

The grand jury indicted 31-year old Travis Smith and 29-year old Geraldine Santiago, of Hopkinsville, for first-degree criminal abuse. According to the arrest warrant, the couple dragged a female child by her hair into a home on Simon Street because she failed to remember the password to her phone. The couple allegedly whipped her with a belt that left injuries from the belt buckle on the child’s lower back.

29-year old Antwain Loving was indicted on three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, knowingly receiving a stolen firearm and other charges. According to Hopkinsville Police, the charges stem from September 26 when Loving got into an argument with an individual and walked away. When police told him to get on the ground, Loving reportedly tossed a black handgun in order to hide it. After securing the handgun and running the serial number, police found the gun had been stolen. Police say the female victim Loving was arguing with stated he had hit her multiple times, causing visible injuries to her neck. The victim said when she went to call 911, Loving allegedly took her phone, left and then returned and fired three rounds outside the apartment. Officers say they found the three shell casings that matched the handgun.

And the grand jury indicted 39-year old Daniel Demo Dowlen was indicted for first-degree rape.
