Snow And Ice Expected In Pennyrile Area Overnight

During a National Weather Service conference call Wednesday morning, forecasters say the Pennyrile area will see a mix of snow and ice overnight.

Lead Forecaster Kevin Smith says the Winter Weather Watch is forecasting one to three inches of snow in the Pennyrile area but we could receive less.

In addition, we can expect some accumulation of ice with this winter storm.

According to Smith, the wintry mix is expected to begin during the evening rush hour in the Pennyrile area.

He says their biggest concern is during the overnight hours.

National Weather Service Warning Coordinator Rick Shanklin says a winter storm is a rare event at this time of the year.

Forecasters expect the snow to taper off in the Pennyrile region by noon Thursday, but add we could see a few lingering snow showers.
