Two Former Crofton Firefighters Sentenced To Prison

Glen McGee

Former Crofton Fire Chief Jeremy Marlar and firefighter Glen McGee were sentenced in Christian Circuit Court Friday after a jury found them guilty in August of second-degree arson, and other offenses.

Judge John Atkins heard from defense attorney, Michael Thompson, and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Maggie Gigandet regarding why McGee should be or should not be granted probation. After hearing the arguments, Judge Atkins denied probation and imposed McGee’s sentence.

McGee was ordered to pay restitution on the agreed amount of $100,000.

Jeremy Marlar

Defense Attorney Rick Boling also appeared before Judge Atkins with his client, Marlar, and again the judge denied probation because he stated he respects the jury’s guilty verdict and the sentence they recommended.

Marlar was then led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.

Two other firefighters were also charged in connection to setting fire to a vacant building in Crofton in August 2017. Dylan Hodge entered into a plea deal and entered a guilty verdict in August 2018 to a lesser charge of second-degree facilitation to arson after he was originally charged with second-degree arson. By taking the plea deal, a five-year sentence was diverted to probation and he also had to testify against Marlar and McGee during their trial.

Dakota Oglesby is still awaiting trial after he was granted a motion to sever his case from the other firefighters. He is also facing second-degree arson and third-degree burglary charges.
