UPDATE – Police Respond To Shooting Hoax In Cadiz

Officials say a call about a possible shooting and barricaded suspect at a home on Jefferson Street in downtown Cadiz was apparently a hoax.

Kentucky State Police Post One Public Information Officer Trooper Jay Thomas says police searched the home where the shooting reportedly occurred and found no evidence of any type event.  In a statement released to media Sunday evening, Thomas says the incident appears to have been a hoax.

Cadiz Police, Kentucky State Police and the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department were notified by Trigg County Dispatch that a person called around 5:00 to report a possible shooting and barricade situation.  Law enforcement officials and other first responders were called to the scene.  After surrounding the home, police entered the residence and conducted a search, but found no evidence of a shooting.

Thomas says no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed in the case.  He adds local law enforcement officials will continue to investigate where the call came from and who placed the call.

The incident resulted in the closure of Jefferson Street from the intersection with Court Street to West Cadiz Park from shortly after 5:00 until late Sunday evening.
