Sponsorship Opportunities For Sports Facilities Considered

Christian County School Board members are looking at sponsorships as a way to generate funds to maintain and update the Stadium of Champions and other facilities.

Although no action was taken at Thursday night’s meeting, Chief Operations Officer Brad Hawkins presented board members an invitation to bid application and a contact to consider pertaining to sponsorship opportunities. He says the Stadium of Champions would be the logical place to start in which companies, businesses, or individuals could bid for sponsorships, or naming rights, and sign a ten-year contract. The sponsor could name the facility, put up signs, and get some other benefits.

Board member Tom Bell says the Stadium of Champion is a step or two behind when compared to other stadiums in the region and other places. He adds this is an opportunity in which they could really make it a Stadium of Champions and showcase a Wall of Champions.

After more discussion, board members decided the sponsor’s contract should be reduced to five years and they should take bids for the Stadium of Champions, the soccer fields, Hopkinsville High School pool, and the two high school gymnasiums. School board attorney Jack Lackey, Jr. requested Hawkins bring the documents back to the board with the new changes.

In other business, board members approved an architect contract with WBW Engineering for the pool air handler at Hopkinsville High School, and a request from the Hoptown Hoppers to use the HHS baseball field for the Summer of 2019.
