Landslide Repair Work On US 62 Delayed

Due to a scheduling issue, the contractor has moved the start of the soil stabilization work on US 68 near the Caldwell-Hopkins County line to Tuesday, October 16. This is at the site of the landslide in February that caused damage along a 600-foot section of US 62, just west of Dawson Springs.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says Geostablization International, LLC, will be using a number of soil stabilization methods, including soil nailing, to prevent movement of soil along the hillside. He adds this will help reduce the likelihood that there will be damage to the roadway in the future. The stabilization work is expected to take about 10 to 14 days to complete, weather permitting.

Alternating flow in the work zone will be controlled by flaggers during the daylight hours and by an automated signal at night. Todd says motorists should pay close attention to the automated signal due to transit times along the work zone.
