Update: More Info Released About Manhunt & Murder

A manhunt continues in Montgomery County after authorities confirmed during a news conference Monday afternoon that one person was shot and killed at a residence on Welker Road Monday morning. Authorities believe Kirby Wallace, who is on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top Ten Most Wanted list, is responsible for the murder.

During a news conference broadcast live by WTVF-Channel 5 in Nashville around 12:30 Monday afternoon, Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson said 911 received a call at 9:24 from a residence on Welker Road in the Woodlawn community about a suspicious man.

With the evidence investigators have collected so far, Sheriff Fuson adds they believe this is Kirby Wallace.

After the vehicle was taken from the Welker Road address, Sheriff Fuson says it was found crashed on Franklin Road shortly after 10:00 leading them to believe the suspect is on foot. He notes a perimeter has been set up and a lockdown is in place in Montgomery and Stewart counties.

They are asking residents to remain indoors, lock all their doors and windows, and report any suspicious activity. As a reminder, TBI officials say Wallace should be considered armed dangerous. Do not approach him or attempt to apprehend him. If you see him, call 911 immediately

As previously reported by the News Edge, Wallace is also wanted by the TBI and law enforcement agencies in connection to the murder in Stewart County and a home invasion in Montgomery County, both occurring on Sunday, September 23.

We will continue to bring you more details as information is released from authorities.
