After over seven months of investigation, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has charged two men in connection to the bank robberies that took place in Morton’s Gap and Hanson, earlier this year.

The Sheriff’s department has identified the two as Jayson B. Collier and Qwentin L. Banks of Clarksville, Tennessee. Both are currently lodged in the Montgomery County Jail.

The US Bank in Morton’s Gap was robbed on February 7, 2018, and the US Bank in Hanson was robbed on March 26 of this year.

During the early stages of the investigation, multiple agencies began to notice similarities in bank robberies that had taken place across Kentucky. As agencies worked together, suspect information led to obtaining evidence linking multiple bank robberies together.

Initially, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office determined that more than one individual was involved in both bank robberies at Morton’s Gap and Hanson.

In April of this year, information obtained in the investigation led to a search warrant at a residence in Clarksville. Collier was arrested on active arrest warrants out of Tennessee. Collier was held in the Montgomery County Jail for the Tennessee warrants while the robbery investigation continued.

On September 21, Qwentin Banks was arrested in Clarksville by US Marshals. Banks was arrested on the Hopkins County charges as well as being served with a local Tennessee arrest warrant.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has charged Collier and Banks with robbery. The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office has charged Collier with robbery as well.

Other agencies related to this investigation are working closely together to determine what other charges will follow.
