After a change in keynote speakers for the 2018 Unity Breakfast, the Hopkinsville Human Relations Commission (HRC) announced Thursday Hopkinsville Community College President Dr. Alissa Young will make featured remarks on the theme “Better Together.”

HRC Executive Director Bernard Standard noted in a release the previously confirmed speaker State Secretary of Education and Workforce Development Derrick Ramsey was unable to attend due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts.

HRC member and Unity Breakfast Planning Committee Chairman Jack Shah says they could not be more thrilled to have Dr. Young featured in this year’s special event. He adds Dr. Young’s genuine passion for unity coupled with her always beautifully poised delivery are certainly something to look forward to. In 2008, he says Dr. Young graced the audience with a beautiful musical selection.

The Unity Breakfast will be held Thursday morning, October 25, at 7:30 at the James E. Bruce Convention Center. The breakfast is an outreach program between the HRC and the Mayor’s Office.

Tickets are still available for the Unity Breakfast and may be purchased from the HRC Office or any member. Individuals tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Tables for 10 may be purchased for $100.
