Hopkinsville Man Facing Drug Trafficking And Gun Charges

Police say a traffic stop on a vehicle in which the driver didn’t use a turn signal landed his passenger in jail facing drug trafficking and weapon charges.

Hopkinsville Police report the vehicle was pulled over in the 400 block of Hershey Drive shortly before midnight Monday. After officers say they smelled marijuana coming from the cab of the SUV, they conducted a pat down of the passenger 18-year old Detravius Dillard of Hopkinsville. Police reportedly found a controlled substance in his pocket, as well as a concealed and loaded 380 handgun, a baggie containing 4.5 grams of marijuana, a baggie containing individually packaged baggies of 19.4 grams of crack cocaine, and $230 in cash. According to the report, a check on the handgun revealed it was stolen.

Dillard was charged with receiving stolen property (handgun), carrying a concealed weapon, his second offense for first-degree trafficking cocaine over four grams, and other offenses. He was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
