Cadiz Council Members Hear First Reading Of Ordinances

Cadiz City Council members heard the first reading of three ordinances during Tuesday night’s meeting. City Clerk Brian Ahart presented an ordinance providing the issuance and sale of bonds for the new water facility that will soon be constructed in the eastern portion of Cadiz.

Ahart also read an ordinance regarding the ad valorem tax rate.

Council members heard the first reading for the motor vehicle tax rate for 2019.

Members will hear the second reading of those three ordinances during a special meeting Wednesday afternoon at 4:30.

Members approved a new floodplain resolution for future customers building structures in a designated floodplain.

Council also approved giving Mayor Todd King permission to move forward with financing and the signing of documents related to that, for the new water treatment facility.

The city is also looking into a possible grant to receive up to $75,000 to build restroom facilities in downtown for the Trigg County Ham Festival and other events. Members approved for the city to sign up for the grant, that does require a 25% match.
