Authorities report a hand grenade found in Murray Tuesday afternoon was determined to be live. Murray Police say the Kentucky State Police Hazardous Device Unit and Paducah Bomb Squad made the determination. The device was secured and taken to a separate location where it was destroyed.

Around 2:00 p.m., Murray Police reported officers had set up a perimeter in the area of the intersection of 5th and Poplar Streets. They closed the area and requested people stay away until authorities arrived on the scene and checked the grenade.

The streets were opened before 4:00 p.m.
