A Gilbertsville woman was killed in a three vehicle traffic accident Tuesday afternoon near the 29 mile marker on Interstate 24 just before 4:00.
Kentucky State Police report 42 year old Amy Chavez of Gilbertsville, was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Livingston County Coroner.
The preliminary investigation shows Chavez was traveling westbound in the right lane and did not see the traffic slowing on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge. Chavez moved to the left lane in an attempt to pass a Semi tractor trailer, but according to witness statements, that semi changed lanes and cut her off. Chavez then moved back to the right lane, where she lost control of her vehicle and side-swiped another semi-tractor trailer. Chavez then failed to stop and collided with the rear end of a semi-trailer in the right lane.
None of the truck drivers were injured in the wreck.
