Man Charged With Wanton Endangerment & Fleeing

A Hopkinsville man is facing charges after he led two law enforcement agencies on a pursuit on Dawson Road Friday evening.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies were dispatched to assist Dawson Springs Police in a pursuit of a vehicle southbound on Dawson Road Friday night just before 6:15. Deputies deployed spike strips in the 10,000 block, which they say caused the suspect, later identified as 41-year old Lonnie Rogers, to come to a complete stop in the roadway. Deputies then reportedly drew their weapons and commanded Rogers to show his hands, at which time, he drove through a yard toward two deputies and continued to travel southbound on Dawson Road. Deputies were also staged at New Palestine Baptist Church, where they say Rogers pulled into the parking lot, got out of his truck and started walking toward a house. They say Rogers continued to ignore their commands to stop and show his hands, causing the deputies to deploy a taser to take him into custody.

Rogers was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, Reckless Driving, and 2nd Degree Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot.
