Library Shares Positive Fiscal Year End Report

The number of people utilizing the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library for the last fiscal year is up, according to Diane Wood with the Friends of the Library. Wood presented some figures to the Christian County Fiscal Court during Tuesday’s meeting that were released at the library board meeting Monday night.

Wood said circulation was almost 100,000 and the number of people entering the doors increased 6.1% the last fiscal year.

She noted the library also had an increase in the number of kids attending Story Time, and the use of computers showed a significant increase.

Wood stated there were thousands of participants in special programs, and thousands of books distributed by the Imagination Library program.

She concluded by telling magistrates the numbers show the library is really needed by a lot of people in the community and could certainly reach more people with additional funds and additional staff.
