Authorities say a Hopkinsville man killed in a crash at the Pennyrile Parkway and Interstate 24 interchange Saturday night was fleeing from police when the wreck occurred.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports 61-year old Raymond Thomas was a suspect in an investigation that had taken place at Subway on Fort Campbell Boulevard. Hopkinsville Police located Thomas traveling at a high rate of speed on the parkway and had requested county units for assistance. A short time later police officers reportedly advised ECC they had lost sight of Thomas and then were flagged down and told there was a wreck on the westbound ramp of I-24. Deputies found the vehicle had run off the left side of the ramp and went down an embankment, causing the vehicle to flip end over end multiple times, ejecting Thomas. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes.

The sheriff’s office released the completed accident report Wednesday morning.
