White Plains Man Arrested After Police Pursuit

A White Plains man that tried to flee from state police on a moped is facing multiple charges, including assault of a police officer.

Around 11:00 Friday night, state police report a trooper tried to stop the operator of a moped who failed to give a turn signal in Nortonville, but instead the man fled until he lost control and wrecked while trying to make a turn. The operator, later identified as 29-year old Jacob Baker, continued to flee on foot , but was shortly apprehended by the two state troopers.

Baker was booked into the Hopkins County Jail charged with 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading Police in a Motor Vehicle, 2nd Degree Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot, Resisting Arrest, 3rd Degree Assault of a Police Officer, DUI 1st Offense Aggravated Circumstances, Reckless Driving and other operator and traffic-related offenses.
