The Christian County Grand Jury has turned over a case of electioneering violations to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.

The grand jury report says the Primary Election was held during the May-June 2018 grand jury session, and as required by law Christian County Clerk Mike Kem and Christian County Sheriff Livy Leavell, Jr. appeared before the grand jury and provided a report. For the most part, they stated the Primary Elections were uneventful and turnout was low. However, they also reported two cases of electioneering. The grand jury report says one case was immediately investigated, found unsubstantiated, and closed. The second case was also immediately investigated and the grand jury says potential electioneering violations were found and documented. The report says the case was referred to the state Attorney General’s Office and the investigation is ongoing at this time. No other details were provided in the grand jury’s report.

The May-June 2018 Grand Jury session concluded Friday.

According to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office webpage, two campaign violations and one electioneering complaint were reported in Christian County. No other information is provided.
