A 61-year old Princeton man was charged Thursday afternoon after he allegedly shot another man. Kentucky State Police Post 2 reports troopers responded to a shooting call at Mashburn Road in Princeton at 4:14 p.m.

Police say a preliminary investigation revealed 62-year old David Gates, of Princeton, went to a residence to speak with his ex-girlfriend when James Mashburn came out of the home with a firearm. Gates started to leave the residence in his vehicle as Mashburn reportedly fired a round hitting Gates.

Police indicate Gates was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Mashburn was booked into the Caldwell County Jail charged with 1st Degree Assault.
