Police are asking for the public’s help to identify two people they’re calling the “Truckless Twosome” after they allegedly stole a trailer in south Clarksville and then crashed their truck.

Clarksville Police Department Public Information Officer spokesman Lieutenant Steve Warren says two people in a black 1995 GMC Sonoma pickup truck attempted to steal a two-axle trailer from a residence on Cherokee Trail around 7:45 Thursday morning. A security camera recorded the theft and the white male passenger who connected the trailer to the truck, but police say the driver did not get out of the truck. The security system, which also has audio, picked up the sound of the truck and trailer crashing soon after rounding the corner, possibly because police say the heavy trailer pulled the bumper off the truck. Lt. Warren indicates both the truck and trailer were soon recovered in an adjacent wooded area where it came to rest after exiting the roadway. He says the owner of the pickup truck has yet to be determined.
