Man Stabbed On West 1st Street, Woman Arrested

A Hopkinsville man was airlifted to a Nashville hospital after he was allegedly stabbed by a Hopkinsville woman during an argument on West 1st Street Wednesday night.

Hopkinsville Police report officers responded to 711 West 1th Street at 11:25pm for a stabbing and found 30-year old Demisha Wilford, who admitted to stabbing Deangelo Morehead in her vehicle a couple of blocks away. During the interview, police say Wilford stated the two were in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation when Morehead retrieved a knife from the kitchen of the residence and Wilford got a knife from the backseat of her car. The two reportedly threatened each other multiple times while outside the vehicle. Police say Wilford stated that while Morehead was hitting her vehicle with a chair leg and had his knife down she “poked” (stabbed) him with the knife in the back in his rib cage.

According to the report, Morehead was transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and was flown to a Nashville Hospital.

Wilford was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Assault.
