Returned Indictments Include Criminal Abuse, Assault, Burglary

The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments Friday, including charges from criminal abuse of a child to assault and burglary.

The grand jury indicted 28-year old Bobby Lee Oliver of Hopkinsville for 1st Degree Criminal Abuse Child 12 or Under, and two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence. The charges stem from March 7 when Hopkinsville Police reported a two-year old child suffered burns to his buttocks and calves, a bloody lip and bruising to both sides of the face and neck, as well as bruising and redness to his stomach and private area while in the sole custody of Oliver. Police say Oliver stated he was working on a moped when it fell over on the child, which was deemed inconsistent with the actual injuries by the Department of Community Based Services, as well as a forensic review. Oliver could not be found during the investigation and police reportedly found the moped in a shed at a friend’s house, along with bloody pajamas and a bloody towel in a garbage can outside Oliver’s house.
