Cumberland Hall Designated Alternative Program Of Distinction

Cumberland Hall School in Christian County has been designated as an Alternative Program of Distinction for alternative education programs in Kentucky.

In a letter to Christian County School Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill, Kentucky Education Commissioner Dr. Wayne D. Lewis, said after an extensive on-site visit by his department’s review team, Cumberland Hall School was deemed to be an exemplary program. Lewis said, “It is our hope that your program will serve as a model for other alternative programs across the state.”

Cumberland Hall Principal Chris Gilkey, said “Our teachers and staff work very hard to ensure students enrolled at Cumberland Hall receive a rigorous and comprehensive education.”

Gemmill said “I appreciate the leadership provided by Mr. Gilkey and all the hard work of the Cumberland Hall staff.”

As part of this recognition, Cumberland Hall School will receive a monetary award for instructional support and will be formally recognized June 6 at the Kentucky Board of Education meeting in Frankfort.
