The Pennyroyal Area Museum building in Hopkinsville has been closed for about a month while undergoing major renovations. The empty building will be the setting for a major fundraiser at the end of June. Museum Director, Alissa Keller says even though the building is closed, there has been a lot of work going on inside to clear the way for the party on June 30.

Keller says night clubs in the 60’s were primarily African American, and because of the location on Highway 41, many headliners made stops in Hopkinsville.

Members of the museum can already purchase tickets. Tickets will go on sale for everyone else on Friday, June 1. Keller says tickets are $50 dollars each with the proceeds going to support the museum. Those tickets can be purchased at the website museumsofhopkinsville.org or at the Hopkinsville Welcome Center.
