Hendricks Proclaims May Historic Preservation Month

Mayor Carter Hendricks Thursday night proclaimed May 2018 as Historic Preservation Month in the City of Hopkinsville.

Mayor Hendricks read the proclamation that says the historic sites and buildings are an economic tool that creates jobs and stimulates tourism.

He went on to read that the City of Hopkinsville has been a Certified Local Government since 1988 in partnership with the Kentucky Heritage Council and the National Park Service and has established historic preservation as public policy and worked to meet federal, state and local historic preservation objectives.

The reading of the proclamation was held in the Council Chamber of the Hopkinsville Municipal Building prior to the City Council meeting.
