Freedom Elementary School has been named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by FranklinCovey Education. Christian County Public Schools’ Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill made the announcement Thursday. School officials say this recognition serves as evidence the school is producing outstanding results in student outcomes by implementing the Leader in Me process, but it also demonstrate the extraordinary impact the school is having on staff, students, parents, and the greater community.

Freedom Elementary School Principal Brooke Stinson says they are honored to have been certified and named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, and they have seen amazing results from implementing the program at the school, such as student leadership notebooks and school-wide aligned goal setting.

Through Leader in Me students learn to become self-reliant, take initiative, plan ahead, set and track goals, do their homework, prioritize their time, manage their emotions, be considerate of others, express their viewpoint persuasively, resolve conflicts, find creative solutions, value differences, and live a balanced life.

Freedom Elementary is in its third year of the program and the school has been one of only 4000 Leader in Me schools worldwide. With this new designation, school officials say Freedom becomes one of only 388 in the world to obtain Lighthouse Certification, which they will maintain for the next two years and will continue to foster its growth and proficiency in exemplifying a leadership culture and principals. At the end of the two years, the release indicates the school will be able to recertify its Lighthouse Certification through a virtual self-assessment, describing and celebrating its growth and accomplishments since its original Lighthouse designation.
