Sinking Fork Elementary School’s principal has announced she will retire at the end of the current school year.
Kathleen Carter became principal at the school in 2006 after starting her career at Sinking Fork as a substitute teacher in 1990. Carter says in a release it has been an honor to be a part of a district that works hard to engage students in the instructional process every day. She specifically noted the enjoyment of teaching the children and grandchildren of students she had previously taught.
Sinking Fork’s Site Based Decision Making Council will begin its search for Carter’s replacement. They have placed a survey on the Christian County Public School’s website that allows parents and interested partners to have a voice in the selection process for her replacement. The survey will be available on the website through Noon Tuesday, May 15. The council will hold its first meeting for the job search at 8:00 Wednesday morning, May 16 at the school board’s central office on Glass Avenue.
