HCC GED Graduation Set For Next Week

Hopkinsville Community College will be hosting its annual General Development Diploma (GED) Ceremony next week.

HCC Director of Marketing and Communications, Rena Young says approximately 100 adults from Christian, Caldwell, and Todd Counties will be eligible to be recognized during the ceremony for receiving their GED credentials. She notes outstanding achievement certificates and GED scholarships awards will also be presented during the ceremony.

The release says the guest speaker will be Shirley Conner, a Clarksville native by way of the Fort Campbell Military Base. She grew up traveling the world with her father and family during his military career, but she received her elementary through middle school education at Fort Campbell and then returned to Fort Campbell High School where she completed her secondary education.

For the past ten years, Conner has worked for the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) program as an Educational Counselor located at Austin Peay State University. Recently, she was promoted to the Project Coordinator position for the Veterans Upward Bound program.

The GED graduation ceremony will be held Tuesday night at 7:00 in the auditorium at HCC.
