Two Women Facing Meth & Weapon Charges

Two Hopkinsville women were arrested on various charges after a traffic stop at the intersection of East 19th and Walnut Streets Wednesday night. hopkinsville Police report they pulled over a vehicle driven by 28-year old Nicole Cook after she failed to stop at a stop sign.

Officers say Cook got out of the vehicle, reached underneath the driver’s seat and then closed the doors and approached them. A K-9 was deployed and reportedly alerted on the vehicle where officers found a baggie of a crystal-like substance, believed to be meth, where Cook was seen reaching under the seat.

During the investigation, officers say a passenger in the car, 40-year old Shannon Davenport consented to a search of her and her purse. Police indicate they found a large dagger with about a 12 to 14 inch blade concealed inside her purse. Officers report a computer check of Davenport showed no valid concealed carry permit.

Cook and Davenport were lodged in the Christian County Jail. Cook was charged with 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), and Operating under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs under Aggravating Circumstances. Davenport was charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
