New Beautification Coordinator Named At Council Meeting

During Tuesday night’s meeting, Hopkinsville City Council members were introduced to the new Beautification Commission coordinator.

City Grounds Maintenance Superintendent Blane Ezell informed council Heather Braun has been hired to fill the position at Public Works.

In business action, council unanimously approved a Municipal Order establishing a housing incentive for Sivley Point, LLC to construct a development known as Sivley Point Subdivison, as read by City Clerk Chrissy Upton.

The subdivision will be located on approximately 37.44 acres that will provide for single and multi-family housing.

Council also unanimously approved incentives for Bypass Warehouse, LLC to construct a commercial warehouse, or distribution center, totaling about 142,500 square feet to be located on US Highway 41. The company estimates an investment of at least $2.5 million dollars in the warehouse development, which will create 30 to 40 jobs.

In other business, council unanimously approved the first readings of an ordinance awarding a non-exclusive franchise agreement relating to a gas system Atmos Energy Corporation, and an amended ordinance with the Beautification Commission.

Council also recognized members of the Gateway Academy Robotics Teams.

In addition, recently retired Hopkinsville Fire Department Captain Tim McGar was recognized as well as recent promotions at the Hopkinsville Fire Department, which included Deputy Chief of Training Bill Pyle, Battalion Chief Keith Hampton, Captains Michael Pendleton and Jay Carr, and Lieutenants Jeff Slaughter and Jason Wade.
