A Hopkinsville woman who was house sitting in October was arrested Monday morning on a warrant for the alleged theft of nearly $2,000 worth of jewelry and then pawning the items.

According to the warrant, an investigation by Hopkinsville Police determined that between October 8 and October 15, 2016, Shannon Davenport took jewelry while house sitting for the victim while she was on vacation. When the victim returned, she noticed several dresser drawers had been rummaged through and some pieces of clothing were missing, along with a Nintendeo Wii. The victim reportedly confronted Davenport about the missing items, but she denied knowing anything about the missing items. Police state the victim did not file a theft report at the time.

In late October, police say the victim needed some paperwork from a safe kept in her closet but she could not find the key. She forced the safe open, and found that all of her jewelry was missing.

The warrant says police found Davenport had pawned the jewelry at Premier Gold and Diamonds, which was identified by the victim. Police say they found Davenport’s driver’s license and pictures of the jewelry on pawn tickets dated October 12 and October 13, 2016. On October 12, police indicate Davenport pawned a gold diamond cluster ring valued at $1,000. On October 13, 2016, Police say she pawned a gold cross valued at $150, a gold Christian County High School class ring with an emerald center and diamonds on the side valued at $400, and a gold ring with a ruby center valued at $400.

Davenport was taken into custody in the 1000 block of North Main Street at 11:20 Monday morning. She was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with Receiving Stolen Property Under $10,000.
