Preparations are underway and the countdown has begun for the implosion of the old Lake Barkley Bridge Wednesday morning. If you plan to watch the Lawrence Memorial Bridge implosion, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says they have two areas set up, specifically for the public to watch the blast but parking will be an issue.

Todd says the window of opportunity for the public to view the blast will be between 6:30 and 9:00 Wednesday morning. He notes it will take the explosive team a while to make some final arrangements.

Todd adds they will then get about a 15-minute advance warning to stop traffic on the new bridge, which will be halted for about two hours for the blast and to allow engineers time to inspect the new bridge.
