Lyon County and the Kentucky Division of Waste Management are sponsoring the 2018 Waste Tire Collection Days through Saturday for residents that want to get rid of old tires that may be lying around your home or garage. The waste tire collection event is to allow area residents a chance to dispose of waste tires at no charge. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials say you do not have to be a Lyon County resident to participate in the event.

Area residents can bring waste tires to the Kentucky Department of Highways Maintenance Facility at 381 Highway 373 in Eddyville on Friday from 7:00am until 3:30pm, and on Saturday from 7:00am until 1:00pm.

Officials say they will be accepting farm implement, bicycle, motorcycle, go-cart, ATV, tractor, truck, and/or passenger vehicles tires. The tires can be on or off the rim.

The waste tire collection excludes foam filled, calcium filled, off-road construction tires, and rubber tracks. It also excludes any tire with a bead greater than 1.25 inches.

Again, the tire waste collection is available at no charge to residents of Lyon and surrounding counties, but it does exclude tire retailers and salvage yards.
