University Heights Academy has named the new Head of School for the next school year. Beth Unfried will replace Pam Nunn who is retiring at the end of the 2017-18 school year.

Unfried grew up in Hopkinsville and graduated from Christian County High School. She began her career as a teacher for seven years before entering school administration in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. She was a school administrator at four different schools before serving in her present role as the Director of Elementary Education for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. She has also served on numerous district and state committees and been a presenter at state level conferences. Unfried has received the Tennessee Association of School Librarians Distinguished Administrator Award, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Association Distinguished Administrator Award, and named the Tennessee Teacher of the Year Grad Division Winner. Most recently, she led Norman Smith Elementary School to earning Tennessee reward status and the Tennessee Score prize for top performing school in Tennessee.

Unfried resides in Hopkinsville with her husband, Jeff. They have three children Gant, Chandler, and Maggie. Her daughter, Chandler graduated from UHA in 2015 and her daughter Maggie is presently enrolled as a freshman.

Unfried says in a release she is excited to have the opportunity to serve in her community and join the great team and tradition of excellence at University Heights Academy. She says they will continue to work together and strive to be the best for UHA students.

UHA board chairman Tim Flynn says they are fortunate to have hired someone with such a distinguished career in education. He adds that her experience and her close familiarity with the UHA community make her an excellent choice for the Head of School position.

Unfried begins her new position at UHA July 1.
