A traffic stop in Hopkinsville Tuesday afternoon netted the arrest of an alleged drug trafficker. Police say 18-year old Deshaun Duddley was stopped just after 1:05pm at the intersection of West 1st and North O’Neal streets for not wearing a seatbelt and not using his turn signal.

Upon contact, officers reportedly smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Duddley’s breath and a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Police report a search of the vehicle was conducted and officers found a child’s backpack with four large plastic baggies containing marijuana and two digital scales, along with $85 cash.

Duddley was taken into custody and lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with Trafficking in Marijuana Less Than 8 Ounces and two traffic violations.
