Pennyrile Electric has sent linemen to help provide mutual aid to the northeastern part of the state. Manager of Operations Mike Stokes indicates Pennyrile Electric sent five linemen Monday morning to London, Kentucky in Laurel County, to assist Jackson Energy in restoring power.
Stokes says in a social media post that Jackson Energy was hit pretty hard with outages due to the recent winter storm that passed through their service area. He notes the 51,000-member cooperative currently has approximately 6,000 members without power.
Crews are expected to return home later this week.
