Flooding Leads To More LBL Closures

Visitors are being warned by U.S. Forest Service officials that rising lake levels at Land Between the Lakes will close many facilities beginning Thursday. Hillman Ferry, Energy and Piney Campgrounds, basic camping, and dispersed camping will be closed starting Thursday and will not reopen until facilities are safe for the public.

LBL Area Supervisor Tina Tilley says they care deeply about visitor safety and resource conservation. She adds wet conditions are submerging many campgrounds, boat ramps, and roads so they have closed areas for public safety. She asks visitors to please not enter flooded areas.

Tilley warns that resources are easily damaged during wet conditions and rising lake levels will make conditions progressively worse. She is asking people to limit travel at LBL until this flood event is over. She notes erosion and moving debris may contribute to unexpected travel hazards and recovery for stranded visitors could be delayed as conditions deteriorate.
