Trial Delayed For Former Oak Grove Police Officer

The trial of a former Oak Grove Police officer charged with sexual related offenses is being postponed. Ben Walden was arrested in late 2016 after a human trafficking case led to allegations that he had sex with one of the women being held and then threatened her. Walden was in court Wednesday afternoon, where Special Prosecutor, Ralph Vick told Judge Andrew Self they would need to vacate the March trial date.


right-click to download mp3Judge Self took the trial date off the docket and set a pretrial conference for April 11. Walden is accused of paying a female victim $200 for sex before telling her he was a police officer, putting his gun on the nightstand, putting a pillow over her face, and raping and sodomizing her. He faces charges of 1st Degree Sodomy, 1st Degree Rape, 4th Degree Assault, Permitting Prostitution, 1st Degree Official Misconduct, 3rd Degree Terroristic Threatening, Intimidating a Participant in a Legal Process, Retaliating Against a Participant in a Legal Process, and Tampering with a Witness.
