Two Tornadoes Hit Logan County, One Fatality

The National Weather Service in Louisville says two tornadoes touched Saturday in Logan County. According to the storm survey, the first tornado touched down one mile south of Keysburg in southern Logan County and claimed the life of 79-year-old Dallas Jane Combs.

The team determined that tornado was an EF-2 that touched down near the Kentucky-Tennessee state line on McGhee Road. The twister traveled northeast to Dot Road where it claimed the life of Ms. Combs and resulted in another injury at the same residence.

The storm continued northeast on the ground to about 4 miles northeast of Adairville where it lifted after crossing Bores Road. The maximum width of the path was 400 yards, with the length 11.3 miles. The tornado remained on the ground for 18 minutes.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service Storm Survey Team determined a second tornado touched down around 10:15 Saturday night two miles north northwest of Lewisburg near Elamon Road. That tornado had peak winds of 110 miles per hour and traveled east southeast across Lewisburg Road before lifting. The tornado stay on the fround for about one minute.

No injuries were reported from the second storm.
