Two Facing Drug And Weapon Charges

Two Russellville residents are facing drug and weapon charges. Around 5:35 Thursday afternoon, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports a vehicle was pulled over in the emergency lane on US 68 East in the area of C. Dodson Lane with its hood up and its lights out witha female standing outside the car. Upon contact with the vehicle’s occupants, a deputy reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. During a search of the vehicle, deputies say they found marijuana, prescription medication, and a loaded hand gun which was located in the floor board covered up with clothing.

The investigation led to the arrest of the passenger, 29-year old Cecil Steele who was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Handgun By a Convicted Felon, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Failure to Notify Address Change to the Department of Transportation.

Deputies also arrested the driver, Lorine Posey who was charged with 3rd Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance – Drug Unspecified, Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Failure to Notify Address Change to the Department of Transportation.

Both subjects were lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.
