Mental Evaluation Complete For Pembroke Arson Suspect

The state’s evaluation of a man accused of setting the April 2017 at Pembroke Apartments is completed. John Ivey was charged shortly after the fire on Cherry Street, which authorities say placed five people in danger. He appeared in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon after being transferred back the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center. Judge Andrew Self briefly reviewed the report.

Ivey, defense attorney Eric Bearden, and Commonwealth’s Attorney Lynn Pryor will be back in front of Judge Self in two weeks to discuss Ivey’s release from jail and to schedule a competency hearing. Attorneys want to review the official report.
