Hopkinsville Breaks Ground On New Park

In a few short months, residents of the East Side Neighborhood will have a new place to play and hang out, weather permitting. The City of Hopkinsville officially broke ground on the new East 2nd Street Park Tuesday afternoon.

East Side Neighborhood Association Vice Chair and Magistrate, Kenneth Bates says it was a long time in coming.

Ward 1 Councilman, Thomas Grant says there are some who doubted the project would ever happen.

Mayor Carter Hendricks says the park has come together with the help of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, which owns the old Booker T. Washington school.

The park will feature a basketball court, a playground, a pavilion, a bathroom facility, and several large grassy areas.
