Marshall Shooting Suspect’s Arraignment Postponed

The arraignment for the juvenile charged in connection to the fatal shooting at Marshall County High School last month has been postponed. The teen was scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Mark Blankenship told WPSD that prosecutors were notified Thursday that the defense intends to challenge the mental competence of the 15-year old suspect. He went on to say the judge in the case announced the arraignment will be postponed until the results of the evaluation are available for the court.

The 15-year old is facing two counts of 1st Degree Murder and 12 counts of 1st Degree Assault. The shooting a the Marshall County High School on January 23 claimed the lives of 15-year old Bailey Holt and 15-year old Preston Cope and injured 21 others from either gunshot wounds or injuries from trying to flee the shooting scene.
