Man Charged With DUI After Hitting Fence

A Hopkinsville man was charged with DUI after he backed into a fence on East 23rd Street Saturday afternoon. Hopkinsville Police responded to the 300 block shortly after 5:00pm Saturday and found 37-year old Santos Morales Menjinar sitting in the driver's seat with the keys in the ignition in an alleyway on East 23rd. Police reportedly saw multiple open cans of beer in the vehicle and a passenger drinking one.

According to police, Menjinar had a very strong odor of alcoholic beverages on him, blood shot eyes, and was unsteady on his feet. He registered .227 on a breathalyzer test.

Menjinar was arrested and booked into the Christian County Jail for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence Under Aggravating Circumstances, No Operator's License, Failure to Notify Department of Transportation of Address Change, and Possession of Open Acloholic Beverage Container.
