Dawson Springs Man Charged With Trafficking Meth

Two Dawson Springs residents were arrested at a Madisonville motel after police reportedly found about 300 grams of meth and other drugs inside the room. Madisonville Police went to the Red Cardinal Inn, located at 4765 Hanson Road, Wednesday morning shortly after 8:00 regarding information of heavy foot traffic at a specific room.

Police report they made contact with the room’s occupants, 23-year old Johnney McKinney and 25-year old Emilee Gonzalez, who had active bench warrants. Officers searched McKinney and reportedly found a small baggie of methamphetamine and a syringe, as well as other items used to ingest meth lying in plain sight.

After getting a warrant to search the room, police say they found about 300 grams of meth/cut mixture, several syringes loaded with meth, several unused syringes, several different types of prescription drugs, multiple empty plastic baggies, a digital scale, smoking pipe and two spoons containing meth residue. Police add that McKinney also advised he had eaten 10 grams of meth as an officer entered the room.

McKinney was arrested and charged with Trafficking Meth Over 2 Grams, Possession of Meth, Tampering With Physical Evidence, 3rd Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, Illegal Possession of a Legend Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Gonzalez was taken into custody for an active bench warrant for Contempt of Court, Libel/Slander, and Resistance to Order.

Both subjects were lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
