Heart Health Is Focus Of February

February is American Heart Month and the American Heart Association is hoping you will take time to check your heart health. Kentucky Division Director, Suzanne Riley says heart health is important at every age.



The statistics are startling.



Stroke is now the number 5 killer in the U.S. Riley says the American Heart Association is doing its part to help solve the problem.

The pacemaker was invented because of a $500 grant from AHA. Since 1949, AHA has invested $4 billion into research. That is where events like the April 21st Heart Walk in Christian County come in.



Riley says there are some easy things to remember for heart health.



The Christian County Heart Walk will be April 21 at the Western Kentucky Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 8:00am and the walk gets started with the open ceremonies at 8:45. For more information call (270) 519-9234 or visit www.heart.org/christiancountywalk.
