Kentucky State Police are investigating a house fire that claimed the lives of a child an elderly man over the weekend in Muhlenberg County. State Police say several fire departments responded to a residential fire on State Route 2551 in Bremen around 7:30 Saturday morning. One person was injured in the fire, and two people were found deceased.
Police report a neighbor, Benjamin Harrison, saw the fire and made entry into the home and located a 5-year old boy, who is was able to pull out of the home. The 5-year old child reportedly suffered severe injuries and was flown to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville where he died from his injuries.Police say 89-year old Mitchell Kyle, of Bremen, was found inside the home deceased.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by state police, however they indicate foul play is not suspected.
